Sunday, June 1, 2014 - Happy Birthday Butch...Hope you had a Great Bday!  Well since my last post we stayed a week at Netart's Bay RV Park and man was it BORING!!! So far every RV place we've stayed at we've been next to "Widowers" of much older age.  They're sweet and stuff...but everytime?? I wish we were able to meet some folks more our age.  Well, I guess I'm not accepting my position in life or I'm not as young as I thought I was? Ha!  So...ok, here's my homage to our first three widowed neighbors...Floyd 86, who'd come out and slyly accuse us of turning off his water, or messing with his TV hookup...then come back and appologize because he found out later he did it himself! Cute huh...well at least he'd come tell us...in his round about way.  Then there was Tim 81 who had a home elsewhere and leave this trailer here and come back to stay on the weekends...his second home!  Cool Tim!! And our current camper neighbor Morey, I'd say is in his late 70's...don't know too much about Morey, he leaves everyday in his car and comes back later in the day.
So OK...Netart's Bay we went claming one day...oh boy, what a site we were....Haha!! Jim buys me some rubber boats at BiMart cuz all I have a two pairs of tennis shoes...so these boots have a little heel and are somewhat heavy but they fit so we bought them.  Fast forward...we bought our shellfish licenses, $7 each for the year.  We drove down to the little marina in Netart's just down the street from the RV park we and Tim are living in, we happen upon folks that work for Oregon Fish and Wildlife...talk to a young guy and he tells us to go down the road and just past the fish hatchery there is a gravel parking area.  Park there and walk out from there and you'll find a good spot for claming.  Okedoki...sounds good, that's where we'll go the next day then!!!  A plan, yea!!!  Minus tide is 8:30ish in the morning, not so bad.  There are other cars in the gravel parking area where the Fish and Game guy told us to go...OK, looks good.  Another group of people are walking toward the beach the same time as us, we let them pass and we carry on behind them.  When we all reach the beach area they all go farther on down the path and we head off right away off the trail and hop right down onto the beach....MUD!  And I mean MUD the kind you can die in.  The kind that is so sticky and thick you can actually lose limbs, not to mention FEET!!!  OMG, I watch the group that was ahead of us go a different way and they are way out there walking around like no problem...Jim's slightly ahead of me yelling hurry and don't stop...but too late, I AM STUCK and boy am I stuck...now my heavy boots are even heavier and I can't lift my feet...and the more I try to lift one foot the deeper my other foot sinks and now I'm totally stuck and I cannot budge my feet at all...so down I went on my hands and knees and now I'm covered in MUD!!! I look up at Jim and he's just looking at me like, you gotta be kidding me???  I yell, I'm a city girl, I'm not cut out for this kinda stuff!!!!  I don't like clams that much anyway!!!  So he comes over to help me and I cannot pull my feet out with these boots on so I pulled my feet out of them and left 'em there...well after a little while Jim got my boots out of the"Fricken Muck" but then he got stuck and he fell too! So there we were both of us covered in MUD and well...what a site we were...what a couple of clowns!!!  Ha...Jeez it would've been nice if that nice young Fish and Game guy had warned us about the MUD!!! (Life lesson #1)  Once we both break free we head back to the car kinda pissed off...well, Jim was pissed because once he decides to do something, its hell or high water, he's going to do it!!  So we drive down the road a ways and find another spot that's a lot less muddy then the first place our little buddy told us to go to...bare foot and cold...we ended up with 10 clams. (limit is 20). So glad we didn't bring Bijou!! OMG!
So we went back to a fish store and bought some more clams b/c we didn't have enough to make chowder with, (which we should have just bought the fricken things in the first place) would have been more fun for me...Haha!! No, really....so now we're going to make clam chowder in the 5th wheel...yeah me, can't wait!! LOL!!!  Oh, have I mentioned I am REALLY OCD about cleanliness?!!
So, OK did I mention the night before I really cut my finger good dicing an onion and sliced off a big hunk of finger...took me awhile to get it to stop bleeding and boy it hurt!  I had a dull knife...I knew I should've sharpened it...dang!!  So cleaning the clams and oh yeah, Jim also bought some oysters for BBQ'ing, he was going to be the clam/oyster shucker and cleaner...ha, we had every pot and pan, dish and bowls, knives and cutting boards all dirty and every counter top filled with pots and pans and stuff...all I could do was stand there and try to control my OCD tendencies which were making me twitch!!! OMG!!! OMG!!! don't drop that on the floor...get a sponge!!!! OMG!!!!  So, OK, lets sum up my day...stuck in the worst MUD and about to die in this dirty muck...continue the day digging barefoot only to find 10 clams...go to store buy more plus their little buddies that are even harder to open...Jim in my kitchen of my 5th wheel, which is small and MAKING A FRICKEN MESS!!! OMG!!! Did I say I love the Ocean!!! I really do! LOL!
